What is Tool Station?

Tool Station is a privacy-first local alternative to the upload-based converter sites you are used to. Every tool runs 100% inside your own browser tab: your file is opened, processed and discarded without ever crossing the network. Every tool on this site does one job and does it in a few seconds: convert case, merge images into a PDF, generate a strong password, compare two mortgage repayment plans, or check which AI model is cheapest today. There is no sign-up wall, no email capture, and no upsell — you open the page, use the tool, and leave.

Who are these tools for?

Anyone who needs a quick answer without installing software. Students use the case converter and the PDF tools for assignments. Home buyers compare mortgage plans before talking to a bank. Developers and AI hobbyists use the token price picker to keep API costs down. Office workers use the password generator and the image-to-PDF merger almost weekly. If a task takes one browser tab and zero setup, it probably belongs here.

Your data stays on your device

Every tool on this site processes your input locally. Text, passwords, images, and DXF drawings are handled by JavaScript running in your own browser tab — they are never uploaded to our servers, because there are no servers receiving them. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and most tools will keep working.

FAQ

Is Tool Station really free?

Yes. The site is supported by advertising, which is why you may see ads next to the tools. No tool is locked behind a payment or a subscription.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts. Nothing to log into, nothing to forget.

Why do some tools take a moment on first use?

Tools that use machine-learning models (like the background remover) download the model once to your browser cache. After that, repeat runs are much faster.

Why every tool here runs on your device

Every tool on Tool Station is local-first: the work happens in your browser tab, not on our server. That is a deliberate design choice with three practical consequences. Privacy — the contract, the medical scan, the password, the photograph of your child never leaves your computer, so there is nothing for us to leak, lose or be compelled to hand over. Speed — there is no upload queue and no waiting for a remote job; a 40-page PDF or a 6-megapixel photo starts processing the moment you pick it. Availability — once a page has loaded, most tools keep working with no connection at all.

The trade-offs are honest ones: heavy work uses your own CPU, so background removal is slower on an old phone than on a laptop; anything you save lives in your browser's local storage and will not follow you to another device unless you export it; and some tools load an open-source library or a small AI model from a public CDN the first time you use them. Where that happens, the page says so.

How to pick the right tool

Documents: use the PDF editor to change text, redact or place images in an existing PDF; Text to PDF and Image to PDF to create one; and AutoCAD / DXF to PDF for drawings. Images: Background remover for cut-outs, with the PDF editor's repair panel for noisy scans. Everyday text work: Word counter, Text case converter and JSON formatter. Numbers: Unit converter, Mortgage calculator and the LLM price picker. And if you just need to get something off your chest, there is the Vent wall.

FAQ

Do I need to sign up or pay?

No. There are no accounts, no trials and no premium tiers. The site is funded by advertising, which is why you may see ads around the tools — never inside the content you are editing.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. Files are read with the browser's File API and processed locally. See the privacy policy for the detail, including the few cases where a library or model is fetched from a CDN.

Why do some tools need a moment before the first use?

The background remover downloads a segmentation model (about 55 MB) once and then caches it in your browser. Everything else is instant.

Something is broken — who do I tell?

Email wenxin202305@gmail.com with the page URL, your browser and what happened. Bug reports usually turn into fixes. See the contact page for what to include.

Can I request a tool?

Yes — requests are read and the best ones get built. Tell us the task and the file types involved; tasks that would require uploading your data are out of scope by design.
