Privacy — the contract, the medical scan, the password, the photograph of your child never leaves your computer, so there is nothing for us to leak, lose or be compelled to hand over. Speed — there is no upload queue and no waiting for a remote job; a 40-page PDF or a 6-megapixel photo starts processing the moment you pick it. Availability — once a page has loaded, most tools keep working with no connection at all.
The trade-offs are honest ones: heavy work uses your own CPU, so background removal is slower on an old phone than on a laptop; anything you save lives in your browser's local storage and will not follow you to another device unless you export it; and some tools load an open-source library or a small AI model from a public CDN the first time you use them.
